Important information from the Library for students graduating in July 2014

Graduating students (July 2014) are kindly requested to return all Library books and pay off any outstanding library fines by Friday 6 June.  (Degree certificates can only be released if a student has no outstanding library debts or other University debts.)

Fines can be paid using the self-service machines in the Library or you can check your Library Record and pay any fines via the online payment form.

Best of luck for your revision, final assignments and exams from all Library staff.

Library system problems now resolved

The Library system problems have now been resolved so you should be able to log-in to your Library Record and borrow, return and renew books as normal.

Library system problems

Dear students and staff

We are experiencing some problems with the Library system which is affecting:

• access to Library Records for some students
• issue and return of books  
• renewal of books

Log in problems

There is a problem with our login authentication affecting Blackboard. Staff and students who are trying to login to Blackboard by going directly to vle.aston.ac.uk are getting an error saying "valid authentication credentials were not provided."

This problem is also affecting access to the My Library Record functionality, preventing people from logging on to renew their books.

We understand ISA are currently working to resolve the problem. In the meantime please email library@aston.ac.uk if you need to renew your books or email isa_helpdesk@aston.ac.uk if you continue to have problems logging in to other systems.

Update

This problem has now been resolved by ISA and you should now be able to log in to your Library Record. Please let us know via library@aston.ac.uk if you are still experiencing problems.

Essential maintenance work on the Library System - 28th March

Important news: Due to essential maintenance the Library catalogue and access to the My Library Record function were unavailable on Wednesday 28th March 2012 after 1.30pm.  This was due to be operational again at 5.00pm but unfortunately the work on the library server had to continue much later than planned. 

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We are pleased to announce that the Library Catalogue and My Library Record service is now operational.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact library@aston.ac.uk

Essential maintenance work on the Library system - 28th March 2012

Important news: Due to essential maintenance the Library catalogue and access to the My Library Record function will be unavailable on Wednesday 28th March 2012 between 1.30pm and 5.00pm. The self service machines will still be available for issue and return but not for fines payments. Any laptops issued at the Help Desk will need to be returned by 1.00pm.

Introducing the Library Catalogue direct to your mobile device

LIS is pleased to announce that from the beginning of this academic year the Library Catalogue will be available in mobile format.

You will be able to access your library record, search for and reserve items in the same way as the standard Catalogue but the format will make it easier to use on your mobile device.
