Reminder: Lexis Library and Westlaw certification workshops

*change to timetable for Westlaw*

LLB and Law with Management students,
To coincide with your study skills week we are offering a chance to take part in a free Westlaw and LexisLibrary training and certification workshop.  As a student studying Law you know that Westlaw and LexisLibrary are the two big legal databases providing access to legal cases, legislation and journal articles.
Certification is a great way of testing your legal research skills and learning how to use Lexis and Westlaw most effectively. It also looks great on your CV and demonstrates to employers that you have a good standard of legal research skills. You’re not just saying it – you’ve got proof!  We have invited a professional trainer from each company to guide you through the database and support you through the certification process.
How to book on to the workshops
We are running a certification workshop for each database.  Lexis Library we are repeating the session in the morning and afternoon please only book on to one workshop for LexisLibrary.  For Westlaw there is now a choice or you can do both.  Click on the workshop of choice to book your event ticket.

The 2015 Knovel Academic Challenge is live!

Aston University Library Services subscribes to Knovel (for off-campus access, use this link), a database of technical information for engineers and applied scientists drawn from over 100 authoritative sources.  The collection features material properties, process and design information, best practices, equations and formulations for specific industries and engineering disciplines.

In order to engage STEM students with real-life engineering and science practices, Knovel organise an annual 8-week challenge to immerse participants in a professional problem-solving environment using Knovel’s optimized search, trusted content and interactive tools, all accessible from within the challenge itself.  This year's Knovel Academic Challenge is now live!

Compete for points and prizes by correctly answering engineering problems characteristic of the typical engineer’s workflow. In order to participate, please register (for free) at www.knovelac.com. As you work on each week’s problem using Knovel, you will be competing for points on an individual and institutional level - weekly and grand prizes will be granted to the winning students.

    Good luck!
