The Library refurbishment is schedule to kick off in the summer of 2010. This phase of the refurbishment will include a new look and feel ground floor, a new staircase and passenger lift facing Aston Street, and new toilets on all four floors of the building. If you are a member of staff you can keep up-to-date with construction progress and other news via Aspects. Our refurbishment blog goes live shortly, we'll let you know when.

  1. will this effect student using the library? as in will we be disturbed?

  2. We are very much aware of students’ concerns to maintain quiet study areas, however there will inevitably be some disruption in services and some noise factor. We are working with the contractors to limit this as much as possible. We are also looking at temporary alternate areas elsewhere in the main building as well as working with the Schools to secure areas where students can study over the summer period, especially around exam period. For those journals which will be moved out of the Library for the refurbishment, we are considering a fetching service for students.
