The 2015 Knovel Academic Challenge is live!

Aston University Library Services subscribes to Knovel (for off-campus access, use this link), a database of technical information for engineers and applied scientists drawn from over 100 authoritative sources.  The collection features material properties, process and design information, best practices, equations and formulations for specific industries and engineering disciplines.

In order to engage STEM students with real-life engineering and science practices, Knovel organise an annual 8-week challenge to immerse participants in a professional problem-solving environment using Knovel’s optimized search, trusted content and interactive tools, all accessible from within the challenge itself.  This year's Knovel Academic Challenge is now live!

Compete for points and prizes by correctly answering engineering problems characteristic of the typical engineer’s workflow. In order to participate, please register (for free) at www.knovelac.com. As you work on each week’s problem using Knovel, you will be competing for points on an individual and institutional level - weekly and grand prizes will be granted to the winning students.

Good luck!

*NEW* Business database called Business Education Complete

(BECO) Business Education Complete
This database is a collection of over 12,000 copyright cleared items for use in a class environment, online learning or via the VLE.  Students can also use the material as part of their presentations, research reports or to build their knowledge of a topic.  You can find book chapters, case studies, videos, sample business documents and research reports.

Access
You can access the database via the Business LibGuides or through the A-Z Database list

One year subscription
We are very lucky to have access to this resource for one academic year.  The trial access to the database was won by one of our Business Information Specialists, Nicola Dennis whilst attending the annual Business Librarian's Conference in July.  Thank you to Alexander Street Press!
