Library Summer term opening hours

Welcome back

This week (week commencing 28 April) the Library is open 24 hours.
We will close as normal on Saturday 3 May at 18:00 and re-open on Sunday 4 May at 11:00.

On Monday 5 May the Library will be open.  Please remember to bring your uniCARD with you to the Library as day passes won't be available.  Self-service facilities will be available as normal, although the Help desk won't be open.

Sunday 4 May 2014 - Saturday 14 June 2014 - 24/6 Opening

Monday - Friday - Open 24 hours
Saturday - Closes at 18:00
Sunday - Opens at 11:00

The Help desk is open Monday to Friday 09:00 - 18:00
(Except for Monday 5 May and Monday 26 May when the Help desk is not open)

If you want somewhere quiet to study, third floor is for single silent study at all times.

Looking for something a bit different for your research project?

 





Check out the free resource called VLearn which links you to a collection of talking head videos from business leaders and academics.  You can see and hear discussions on a range of business research topics including sustainability, business ethics, change management, leadership, entrepreneurship, finance, operations management, human resource management and more..

As an academic, if you are interested in talking about your research you can contact VLearn or students can put forward suggestions for future topics.

Library Survey - £25 Amazon voucher prize winners have been notified

Congratulations to Victoria Todorova and Arjun Joshi who have both won a £25 Amazon voucher! The other 2 winners have also been notified via email.

Library Easter vacation opening hours

Dear staff and students,

Library staff would like to wish you all a very good break for the Easter period.

For those of you who will be studying in the Library here is some information about the opening hours:

This Monday 14 April, Tuesday 15 April and Wednesday 16 April the Library is open 24 hours.
On Thursday 17 April, the Library closes at 22:00

The Library will be closed from Friday 18 April to Tuesday 22 April inclusive.
 
The Library re-opens on Wednesday 23 April at 08:00 and will be open 24/6.

Don't forget to save your work to the H Drive when using Library Laptops

If you are using Library Laptops don't forget to continuously save your work to your H drive as if the battery charge runs out you will lose your work.

Library Fines paid week commencing 7 April 2014 will be donated to Students' Union Rag Week charities

All Library fines paid week commencing 7 April 2014 will be donated to Aston Students’ Union RAG week charities. You can check whether you owe any fines on your Library Record.

You can pay your fines at the self-service machines in the Library or please ask staff if you need any help.

So from Monday 7 April and throughout that week, is a good time to check your Library Record and pay off any fines you may have!

Library Book Loans During the Easter Vacation

During the Easter vacation, books will continue to be loaned for the normal one day, seven day or long loan period.  They will need to be renewed online:
https://library.aston.ac.uk/patroninfo

or returned when due. (No books will be due for return during the Library closed period between Friday, 18th April to Tuesday, 22nd April inclusive.)

Any book which cannot be renewed due to a reservation will need to be returned by post if necessary.  Fines will be charged for late return of books which have been reserved by another reader.

Dawsonera: Notification of downtime

Dawsonera e-books platform will be unavailable for a short period of time over the next two weekends: "Please be advised that we will be conducting essential system maintenance on dawsonera in the forthcoming weeks and, as a result, the system will be unavailable on Saturday 5th April between 7am and 10am. There will be a second period of downtime that will occur on the following Saturday 12th April between 7am and 10am."

Essential maintenance to Self Service laptop system on Wednesday 2nd April between 10:00am and 11:00am

Due to essential maintenance the self service laptop system will be unavailable on Wednesday 2nd April between 10:00am and 11:00am.  During this time you can continue to borrow laptops from the Help Desk if any are available.  Also all laptops borrowed should be returned to the Help Desk.

Normal service should resume at 11:00am.  If you have any queries please email library@aston.ac.uk
