Aston Aspires - Library workshops


The Library is beginning it's support for Aston Aspires week with a programme of workshops. Tuesday's workshops are based on using EndNote to find, import and organise references in to a reference library.

There are still a few places available

There are more EndNote workshops running over Wednesday and Thursday and the full programme can be found here.

There is also a Business Intelligence workshop on Thursday which will look at how you can use Business databases to research for your job applications and interview preparation.

Aston Aspires Week - EndNote Workshops

EndNote is a service which allows you to collect, store & manage your own collection or 'Library' of references. You can transfer references from many library catalogues and databases into your EndNote Library. You can also use EndNote to create in-text citations and bibliographies in Word documents, formatted in the style of your choice.EndNote is available as a Web version (also known as EndNote Basic) and a desktop version. Aston University Library will be hosting workshops on using EndNote throughout Aston Aspires Week.  The workshop will include:

  • Creating a Library
  • Searching for references using EndNote
  • Importing references from other sources
  • Importing PDF's
  • Organising your references
  • Importing references from EndNote in to your document
  • EndNote Online

Aston Aspires Week - Westlaw task based training for law students


ASTON ASPIRES: Westlaw training
On Wednesday 4th November the Library will be hosting a Scenario and task based training session using Westlaw UK. 
The workshop will be led by a Thomson Reuters Westlaw trainer - Julie Watts.  Students will be given a 1 hour demonstration and will then have 30 minutes to work through a realistic research exercise using Westlaw UK. This innovative task-based training will replicate common questions asked in legal practice.
